AUTHENTIC Associates: The Peace and Love Movement

Hey Ladies! A little reminder from a special friend, Semira Fuller.

Peace and Love Day!!!!

Peace and Love would like to announce the creation of Peace and Love day....
Feb. 1st would have marked the day Theresa "Reese" Davis was born. For those of you who are unaware Peace and Love was created by Rochelle Davis, Reese's younger sister. Davis, after many years of working as a community activist for several different organizations felt the need was greater for her to raise the awareness in regards to the violence that plagues our neighborhoods, cities, states, and nation, by creating her own non-profit organization. We ask you that on February 1 that you make our image your profile picture, and spread the word to as many of your friends as possible

Please keep in mind that....
-Every 8 seconds 1 out 4 women is a victim of domestic violence.
-Violence is the #1 killer of African-American men.

By influencing the mind of one, we can ultimately change these facts!!!

Join the MOVEMENT.. www.weneedpeaceandlove.com

(if you would like for me to send you Peace and Love image please feel free to send me a message and I will do so).

Thanks so much,
The Peace and Love Team.

You know AUTHENTIC goes hard for Peace and Love. Not JUST because it's based in Philly! But because anyone DOING THEM while affecting national and international change is worth our support!

p.s. if you click Semira's image ... it'll take you directly to the Peace and Love Cause on Facebook.

DO YOU: Lend a Helping Hand

So ladies! We got a lil' factoid from an AUTHENTIC supporter ...

There's a project called 'Point-In-Time'; it's basically volunteering to go out into your city and count the homeless population. You'll have surveys; some might fill them out, some might refuse. The results are sent to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development so that they can provide proper funding for shelters and medical care for the homeless and improve ways to keep people off the street. Ideally the goal is to eradicate homelessness.

The date is Jan 28 and Jan 29. It's important that it happens on the same date nationwide to get as accurate a count as possible.

I'm having the darnedest time finding a general website for it, but they have them for a lotta counties, so here's a general overview of it:

http://www.pbcgov.com/communityservices/pointintime.htm

If you're interested you should be able to find out about it through your city's United Way. I don't know a whole lot about it but I figured I'd pass the word on.

Thanks chick! Any of you other ladies have something you really need to get off your chest? You have a super hot artist or musician or generally talented female you feel needs props?

Send them over to AUTHENTIC and email us at authentic.famc@gmail.com.

muah! love you!

News For YOU!

So ... i don't know if you know Nick, from Namaste Studios ... but YOU NEED TO KNOW HIM!

We're going to do a full write-up on the studio later ... but I just got a little bird just put it in my ear that he's looking to work with and develop new artists.

This is NOT a place you come and purchase "studio time". When I first met them, I was excited that the pressure was OFF, not ON to work with music. No, we don't believe in that. We believe you should have all the time you need with your song(s) and projects. The clock is not ticking. You don’t have to accept a take you don’t like ‘cause your bid is running low. You're investing in your future, in works that will, forever, represent you. Everything you need is at your fingertips. If you need to start, finish or think about an upcoming project, the studio and/or the entire facility is at your disposal. You should not feel overwhelmed while working, this studio is an escape from your daily hustle.

Come, relax and do…whatever. If you just need mixing and mastering or help with an idea. We can call in the team or you can bring yours.
WHEREVER you are in or out of the country, I'd love to bring you in to take a tour, talk with our engineers and music writers, and get behind a microphone that can pick up thoughts three rooms away and take her for a practice spin!

Give me a call when you're ready to propel.

You wanna challenge me?! What?!

This is an official statement:

Dapper Dan Michael is my FIRST and one and only thrift partner.

I know....shocking!!!
I have forever and ever thrifted solo. Why cus?
1. I can't take the distraction and I like to take my sweeeeeet ol' time in the store. Rolling through the aisles once, twice, three times a lady making sure I don't miss nothin.
2. I can't stand the competition....I gotta watch the other shoppers and now I gotta watch you too!??! na man...no offense but it's just too stressful!

3. Refer to #2...every man for himself

Dan and I can HANG....we've sat on mountains of clothes and just talked, space travelin' and harassin' each other while the hours pass on by. That's real love right there....real love for clothes that is. It's not like that...chills.

Dan's eye is a little ridiculous when it comes to fit and he doesn't let me buy ANYTHING that I don't need even when I whine, "but ima alter it" or "but I don't have it in THIS color"...he be like "Yah, it's just gonna sit in the pile on the floor of your closet with the rest of the stuff you don't wear."
ewwww!!!

Yeah, he be putting me on BLAST like dat! ALL my bidness in the streets.

So I ran an idea by him...

Sound ADVICE

DO YOU KNOW THIS WOMAN?

(click the pic for her MySpace)

"Georgia Me a mild-mannered, full figured, around the way girl from the Westside of Atlanta who received a standing ovation from the world when she exploded on the national scene while appearing on Russell Simmons’ Presents HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. She was loved so much that the producers invited her to return for a second season. And she received another standing ovation! Now she stars in the stage adaptation of Def Poetry in San Francisco. Writing became an outlet to express Georgia’s deepest desires, fears and concerns. As a child, she became aware of the balance of power, the ignorance of people and the love of God that heals all. ‘My purpose is to inspire, uplift, and motivate my people. My people are God’s people’ says the performance poet. Poetry may not be the only platform she uses to inspire."
